Alex is the featured performer at all of the major Scottish festivals including Maxville and Fergus Highland Games in Canada, North Carolina's Grandfather Mountain, California's Pleasanton and Costa Mesa, and the Stone Mountain Highland Games in Atlanta, Georgia. He appears regularly in concert, and is equally at home in clubs and on the banquet circuit.
He has recorded more than thirteen albums and hosted two full-length musical travelogue videos of Scotland.
He is founder and President of Glenfinnan Music, and has made numerous television appearances, both in America and Great Britain.
A native of Glasgow, Alex began his career with the Cumberland Three, one of Britain's popular folksinging groups of the Sixties. Along the way he performed on the same bill with such legendary groups as The Animals, the Hollies, Gerry and the Pacemakers and Manfred Mann.
He launched his solo career in New York in the late Sixties, subsequently appearing in clubs and concerts throughout the United States. In 1974 he won the International American Song Festival. Eight years later he began concentrating on bringing traditional Celtic music to American audiences. Since then, he has won wide acclaim, and his name has become synonymous with the best in Scottish tradition.
His rich baritone voice, enhanced by a charming stage presence, has drawn a large and loyal following from coast to coast. His repertoire encompasses a wide range of musical expression from sensitive ballads to rousing Celtic classics.
