Emerald
Emerald is one of the most unique and entertaining bands in the San Francisco Bay Area. Based around core members Fra Drumm, John Taylor, and Dave McCumiskey, the lineup is augmented by various friends and/or famil
y members as the occasion demands. The band is in great demand for weddings and parties, and plays regularly at local pubs, playing everything from Scottish and Irish traditional music and folk songs to country and western to far out and out rock "n roll
, all in their own original style. Fra, the lead singer and guitarist, is from Belfast; John, on the fiddle, hails from Aberdewen; and bassist Dave is a native of Carlisle. "Didja hear the one about the Scotsman, the Englishman, and the Irishman....."
In addition to playing with Emerald, John Taylor will be be familiar to many as a regular performer at Highland Games and other Scottish events. He has played throughout Canada, Scotland and the U.S., has recorded albums with pianist Andy Imbrie and with
the dance band Fiddlesticks and Ivory, and is a winner of the Neil Gow award (for Scottish fiddling). Expect to hear some of the best with Emerald any time you're lucky enough to be where they are!
