Bill Gallagher with Harmony Road

Bill Gallagher is a superb songwriter whose forte is the traditional ballad. He writes songs about the people and events of Canadian history with the kind of skill that invites comparison to such contemporary balladeers as Stan Rogers, James Keelaghan, Tom Paxton, Dougie MacLean, and Ewan MacColl. In addition to composing all of the group's songs, Bill also handles lead vocals, accompanying himself on 12-string guitar.

While Bill is the group's driving force, each band member contributes strong harmony vocals and the occasional solo outing, all backed up beautifully with the guitar, bass and mandolin work (as well as vocals) of Jake Galbraith. Mike Jones, who is a member of the sea shanty group "Lime Bay Mutiny" as well as being a member of Harmony Road, plays 6-string guitar, banjo, melodeon and accordion. Maureen Campbell, (also with "Lime Bay Mutiny," offers exquisite harmonies as well as playing the bodhran, spoons and bones.

Bill Gallagher and Jake Galbraith now have 3 casettes and 2 CDs to their credit, the most recent one with Harmony Road.
