Steve Tilston

Steve Tilston is unique in the world of singer/songwriter/guitarists in that he truly excels at all three. He's an amazing guitarist, and he manages to incorporate that into exquisite accompaniment for his wonderful songwriting and vocal performance. He has been aptly described as "a highly intelligent songwriter and richly artistic finger-style guitarist" (Dirty Linen, Oct/Nov '96).

More and more, Steve's songs are being recorded by other artists. Most notably, The House Band has recorded 'Slip Jigs & Reels'. Fairport Convention has also recorded this song, as well as recording 'The Naked Highwayman' and 'Here's to Tom Payne'. Steve's songwriting takes advantage of his vast knowledge of traditional music and English/American history, resulting in songs that could only be his. His concert appearances capitalize on this knowledge, as well, with a portion of his reportoire consisting of traditional (English and Celtic) music. Steve joined London's folk scene at a time when John Renbourn, Bert Jansch, and Wizz Jones were major driving forces; he continues to carry those influences.
