Each of the royal pavilions serve the use of a part of the royal court. The queen has her own pavilion, her gentleman cortiers another, her halberdiers another, her Highland retainers yet another. At full set-up there are eight royal pavilions at the ready, complete with flags, banners, thrones, rugs, canopy and all the regalia of royal pageantry.
The day usually begins with the entrance of Her Royal Majesty the Queen into the event area, complete with the entire Scottish Court in parade. Each march according to their appointed station: the bell-ringers, courtiers, the Royal Ambassadors, the Royal Ministers of Star Chamber, the Priests, the Royal Halberdiers, the Ladies in Waiting, the Highland Warriors, and the Royal Kitchen and household servitors and retainers. Once assembled at Court, the guests of the event are invited to come forth and meet the Queen.
