Piper Neil McMillan plays at the Cairn The annual service at Glencoe was conducted at the memorial in Scotland in much cooler conditions than we experienced here!

Rev.Helen Wallis officiates at the dedication service Approximately 80 folk attended with the wreath being laid by CD Glasgow member 91 year old Neil MacDonald. Overseas members of CD are reminded that this event takes place on 13th February every year, and they are urged to attend if in Scotland then. Next year the wreath will be laid by CDUSA.

Commemoration of the Battle of Culloden The annual commemoration of the Battle of Culloden also took place with James MacDonell of Scotus, youngest son of the late Glengarry, representing his father and joining in with other Clan representatives including members of the White Cockade Society in the laying of wreaths. A service in Gaelic and English was followed by lunch organised for the fourth year by Lady Glengarry at Drumossie Hotel.

Restoration of the Castle In a previous "Southern Crosslet" I made mention of the project to restore the castle which has been in ruins since 1715, when the Clanranald Chief had it set on fire to save it falling into Government hands. There has been a considerable opposition to the scheme from some quarters including Historic Scotland who feel that it should remain "as is" in ruined form. The castle now belongs to an Ayrshire man who wished to rebuild it and provide, amongst other things, a home for himself. We shall have to wait and see, but Clanranald adherents will take a particular interest in this one.
