(1996) The House of Scotland Pipe Band, founded over 25 years ago, is the official band of beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego. The band wears the Ancient Red MacIntosh kilt. It has made many appearances in concerts, competitions, parades, movies and has been featured on national and local television. It has produced tapes and albums, including the popular "The House of Scotland Pipe Band Twentieth Anniversary Album, Balboa Park."
The band has performed for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth; Americas Cup celebrations; with touring regimental bands from Scotland, and at the sailing of the Star of India. In addition, the House of Scotland Pipe Band has appeared in rock artist Rod Stewart's international music video hit "Every Beat of my Heart," as well as in several live concerts with Rod Stewart.
The House of Scotland Pipe Band practices weekly on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm in the Hall of Nations in Balboa Park in San Diego. Quality instruction is offered in piping, drumming and highland dancing, beginner through advanced. Individual pipers and performing groups are available for all occasions.
